Recognition of CARES Sustainability Constructional Steel (SCS) Scheme and Third Party Verified EPD by Singapore Green Building Product Certification (SGBP) Scheme

Further international recognition of CARES’ sector-leading energy efficiency and environmental standards has been recognised by the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC).

Confirmation that CARES’ Sustainability Constructional Steel (SCS) Scheme and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) scheme has met the stretching requirements for Singapore’s foremost certification body for green building and green construction products is a significant development. It will open up new opportunities for CARES clients looking to export product direct to this important market.

The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) administers the Singapore Green Building Product (SGBP) certification scheme. The SGBP scheme is regarded as one of the key standards and benchmarks for green building products in the Singapore building and construction industry. As such, the SGBP is well recognised under the Green Mark Scheme, Singapore's national green building rating tool administered by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

Now, following a rigorous assessment, CARES has succeeded in its application to add its own Sustainability Constructional Steel (SCS) scheme and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) scheme to the SGBP scheme run by the SGBC.

Both CARES and SGBC are committed to achieving continuous improvement in energy efficiency and the environmental performance of safety-critical reinforcing steels. The existing CARES’ SCS scheme criteria covers SGBP requirements such as assessment of greenhouse gas emissions, material efficiency and optimum recycling standards. For its part, the SGBC is committed to building a ‘greener, heathier and more sustainable built environment’ across Singapore.
